Breaking boundaries: Neon EVM’s integration with deBridge

Neon EVM and deBridge have joined forces — revolutionizing how dApps interact with assets, whether they are Solana- or EVM-natives. deBridge’s pioneering solution redefines the possibilities of cross-chain interoperability and high-performance scalability.

We predict that while many dApp developers will come for deBridge’s cross-chain bridging tool dePort, (after all, what would you do if you were told that you did not have to create a pool by locking your assets into one smart contract?), they will become deeply wedded to the other solutions offered by deBridge’s next-generation IaaS (Interoperability as a Service) product. Let’s look at these, but first, for the uninitiated, a quick recap on Neon EVM.

The power of Neon EVM: a scalable Ethereum Virtual Machine

Neon EVM is not your ordinary Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). It’s a game-changer on Solana that empowers developers to scale Ethereum dApps like never before. Thanks to Solana’s parallelized architecture, Neon EVM is the fastest and most cost-effective EVM.

Neon EVM allows dApp developers to leverage Solana’s benefits while abstracting away Solana’s different memory, storage, and compute models. This means executing on Solana using EVM-native tooling, with minimal changes to the code.

The promise of deBridge IaaS: 3-in-1 blockchain solutions

deBridge’s IaaS is an infrastructure built for high-performance interoperability. What makes deBridge IaaS truly stand out is its 3-in-1 turnkey solution:

  • - dePort asset custody: allows for seamless custody of assets from other networks in just one click. Projects and DAOs can scale effortlessly into neighboring ecosystems while maintaining easy auditability through balance sheet validation.
  • - deBridge data transfer: provides a decentralized infrastructure that enables cross-chain message and data transfers — with authentication. It’s a game-changer providing high auditing standards, scalability, and interoperability support for multiple chains.
  • - DLN (deSwap Liquidity Network) value transfer: solves liquidity issues by making assets liquid without placing them in the “walled garden” of a liquidity pool. DLN offers zero slippage on any order size, deeper market depth, fast settlement times, and native asset trading.

How will this partnership impact the Neon EVM ecosystem?

“This partnership between deBridge and Neon EVM is a momentous step towards interoperability between different blockchain ecosystems,” said Marina Guryeva, director of Neon Foundation. “This integration will help unlock the full potential of the EVM on Solana.”

The first obvious benefit of this integration is that deBridge is not any ordinary bridge! Typical bridges work with wrapped tokens (i.e. they burn tokens on one side of the bridge and mint them afresh on another ecosystem). deBridge is a revolutionary technology that works with the native asset. By integrating deBridge’s DLN mechanism, Neon EVM avoids the bottlenecks inherent to traditional bridging infrastructures.

Secondly, at the time of this Neon EVM:deBridge integration, deBridge already supports 9 existing chains that moved $6m in the previous 2 weeks. And so, partnering with deBridge gives Neon EVM and Solana’s SPL tokens access to this active cross-chain EVM ecosystem.

“We are proud to embark on this journey with Neon EVM,” said Alex Smirnov, Co-founder and CEO at deBridge. “And we are excited to be among the first to offer complete interoperability for the Solana network. We will empower developers with genuine interoperability across multiple ecosystems.”

With this partnership, deBridge extends simplified access to a thriving multichain EVM ecosystem to Neon EVM. And, with their groundbreaking capabilities and compatibility, Neon EVM on Solana with a deBridge integration is poised to transform the EVM ecosystem.

How do SPL tokens become EVM-native without minting?

deBridge is not the only partner bringing revolutionary technology to this partnership. Neon EVM’s NeonPass is part of the mix, and NeonPass is also a “bridge”, that is not a bridge!

NeonPass is a two-way transfer tool for moving assets in and out of Neon EVM. Under the hood, NeonPass functions by transferring SPL tokens from standard Solana “Associated Token Accounts” to Neon EVM Token Accounts “packed” in an ERC-20-for-SPL interface within Neon EVM.

To move an SPL token from the Solana blockchain, the SPL tokens on the Solana blockchain are “packed” in an ERC-20 interface. This adapts the SPL tokens to function within Neon EVM. Once the transformation is complete, the SPL tokens (with an ERC-20 interface) are ready and available on Neon EVM, or now, thanks to this partnership, ready for any EVM.

  •

NeonPass works in both directions, allowing tokens to be transferred back and forth between Solana and Neon EVM without creating new wrapped versions of the tokens. While deBridge allows for tokens to be transferred across their ever-expanding ecosystem of EVMs without creating new wrapped versions of the tokens.

This partnership brings together two revolutionary products and promises to unlock the full potential of the first EVM on Solana.
