Neon EVM: January Recap–We Did That!
As we step into 2025, we are excited to share some incredible updates from Neon EVM that made January a month of progress and collaboration. From going Solana-native to exploring AI and dropping some serious alpha at Town Halls and Spaces, there is something for everyone.
Mainnet Upgrade: Paving the Way for Solana-Native Ethereum dApps
This January, the team integrated the latest Neon EVM mainnet network upgrade. This update improves the process of building, deploying, and scaling EVM decentralized applications in the Solana ecosystem via Neon EVM. These enhancements are now available through our infrastructure.
One of the most notable additions is the Solana-native approach with our Solana Signature Wallet SDK. DApps deployed on Neon EVM can now enable functionality for Solana-native wallets. No more sticking to just EVM-compatible wallets. Solana users benefit from the abstraction of wallet complexities and the ease of signing via a native Solana wallet. And builders? You’re tapping into the Solana fam straight from your EVM dApp—no Rust redeployment required. Oh, and yeah, the devs confirmed it: Phantom, Backpack, and Solflare users are officially in the game. No deployment headaches, smooth onboarding, and huge user access.
Additionally, the mainnet upgrade brings a more efficient transaction fee structure with the integration of EIP-1559. This introduces a dual-parameter fee system, with maxFeePerGas and maxPriorityFeePerGas. The system simplifies how fees are calculated and improves predictability, so you’re no longer at the mercy of a single gas price. Users can set a maximum fee they are willing to pay, along with an option to prioritize their transactions. It’s degen-friendly—set your own limits and send it 🚀.
Following this Mainnet update, we offer full functionality for both block.timestamp and block.number. This means no more workaround solutions or customizations—now there is guaranteed consistent timestamping of blocks. The updates to time-sensitive operations and contract storage optimization have improved the reliability and efficiency of our ecosystem. We are building a fast track for EVM dApps to go Solana-native, and this mainnet upgrade is a leap forward.

Use Cases Research: Exploring elizaOS and AI Agents
Our team has been delving into the innovative elizaOS framework, an open-source platform designed for deploying and managing autonomous AI agents. This powerful tool, developed by ai16z, has sparked fresh ideas for enhancing dApps by integrating more intelligent and adaptive systems. By leveraging elizaOS with the Neon EVM plugin, we aim to offer developers further opportunities to build on Solana with the latest technologies while testing new case studies.
Looking forward, our research efforts are turning toward AI agent tech stacks and the ways blockchain can be leveraged. Particular focus will be dedicated to EVM AI dApps and AI token launchpads that are looking to expand multichain.
